Quick answer: The cheapest way to Pearson is usually the TTC (a single fare) or UP Express (~$12.35 from Union), but both are downtown-only with transfers. For door-to-door with luggage or a group, a flat-rate limo or taxi is often better value overall. Call +1 (905) 872-6411.

When cheapest isn't best

The TTC is cheapest but slow with luggage; UP Express is quick but downtown-only. Split a flat-rate car across a family or group and the per-person cost often beats the alternatives - with none of the transfers.

Cutting the cost a little further

Whichever option you pick, a few habits shave the total. On the UP Express and TTC, tapping a PRESTO card or contactless payment is cheaper than a paper ticket. If you take a flat-rate car, book the return leg at the same time - a round trip is often better value than two separate one-ways - and travel off-peak where you can to keep any transit connections quick.

The biggest saving of all is sharing. Split a single flat-rate car across a family or a group of colleagues and the per-person cost frequently lands close to transit fares, while everyone travels together, door to door, with the luggage handled.

On a pure per-ticket basis the TTC is the cheapest way to Pearson, followed by the UP Express. But both drop you at a transit hub, and the true cost of a trip includes the time and any onward fare to reach your actual address.

The cheapest option depends on who you are

Getting to Pearson overnight

Public transit to Pearson does not run around the clock at full service. The TTC's 300A Bloor-Danforth night bus serves both terminals through the small hours, roughly every 30 minutes, for a single fare - useful for a red-eye or a very early departure when the UP Express and the 900 are not running. For a 4am flight with bags, though, a prebooked flat-rate car stays the least stressful option: it comes to your door on time, with no connections to catch in the dark.

Hidden costs to watch

The headline-cheapest options often carry hidden costs. The UP Express is inexpensive to Union, but you still need to reach Union and then get from there to your final address - two extra legs in time and fare. The TTC is cheapest of all but slow and awkward with luggage.

Park-and-fly looks cheap per day until a week's parking, fuel and the lot shuttle add up. When you tally the whole door-to-door journey - especially split across a family or group - a flat-rate car is often closer in cost than it first appears, with none of the transfers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the absolute cheapest way to Pearson?

The TTC (a single fare) or the UP Express (~$12.35 from Union), though both are downtown-oriented and slower with luggage.

Is a limo ever the cheapest option?

Per person for a family or group, a flat-rate car split several ways can beat the alternatives - and it is door to door.

Is park-and-fly worth it?

Only if you drive yourself and the trip is short; multi-day parking adds up fast versus a round-trip flat rate.

Does the UP Express go to Pearson directly?

Yes, from Union Station in about 25 minutes, but you still need to reach Union first.
