Pearson Airport Shuttle Alternatives
Lost your Pearson shuttle? The alternatives that actually get you there.
Written and reviewed by Rao Asif · Founder & CEO, Pearson Toronto Limo. Verified August 2026.
Quick answer: Many hotel and city shuttles to Pearson have been reduced or discontinued. The reliable alternatives are the UP Express (downtown-Union), a flat-rate airport limo or taxi (door-to-door), and the TTC. For door-to-door with luggage, a flat-rate car is the closest shuttle replacement. Call +1 (905) 872-6411.
What replaced the shuttles
| Alternative | Best for |
|---|---|
| UP Express | Downtown, no luggage hassle |
| Flat-rate limo/taxi | Door-to-door, groups, bags |
| TTC | Lowest cost, more time |
The closest shuttle replacement
If you valued a shuttle for door-to-door service without driving, a prebooked flat-rate car is the natural swap - one fixed price, a chauffeur who tracks your flight, and no fixed timetable to catch. Group bookings make it cost-competitive too.
What each alternative actually costs
Putting real numbers on the choice helps. The UP Express is $12.35 one-way ($9.25 with PRESTO) and reaches Union in about 25 minutes, every 15 minutes. The TTC's 900 Airport Express is a single fare (around $3.30 with PRESTO) but takes longer and involves a subway transfer. A flat-rate car to downtown runs roughly $60 to $75, door-to-door with no transfers.
For one person heading downtown, transit clearly wins on price. For two or more with luggage, split the flat-rate car and the per-person gap narrows fast - and you trade a couple of connections for a single door-to-door ride.
Why so many Pearson shuttles disappeared
A decade ago, dedicated airport shuttles and many hotel vans ran regular runs to Pearson. Since then, most scheduled city shuttles have been discontinued and a number of hotels have reduced or dropped their free airport vans, as rising costs and the arrival of the UP Express and rideshare changed the economics. The result is that travellers who once relied on a shuttle now need a different plan.
The good news is that the replacements are often faster and more flexible than the fixed-timetable shuttle they replaced.
The best replacement for your situation
| Your situation | Best replacement |
|---|---|
| Solo, light bag, near Union | UP Express (~25 min, $12.35) |
| Bags, kids or a group | Flat-rate car - door-to-door |
| Tight budget, time to spare | TTC 900 Airport Express, single fare |
| Overnight / red-eye | TTC 300A night bus, or a booked car |
If what you valued in a shuttle was door-to-door service without driving or parking, a prebooked flat-rate car is the closest like-for-like swap - one fixed price, flight tracking, and no timetable to catch.
Choosing your replacement
Pick by three questions: How much luggage? How many people? Where exactly are you going? If you are solo, light and heading downtown, the UP Express is quick and cheap. If you have bags, kids or a group, or you are going somewhere other than the core, door-to-door wins.
A flat-rate car is the closest like-for-like replacement for a discontinued shuttle - it collects you at your door, carries the luggage, tracks your flight and drops you at the terminal with no timetable to catch. Split across a group, the per-person cost is often comparable to the old shuttle fare.
