Pearson Airport Baggage Claim: Everything You Need to Know
Where to find your carousel, and what to do if a bag is missing, delayed or damaged.
Written and reviewed by Rao Asif · Founder & CEO, Pearson Toronto Limo. Verified August 2026.
Quick answer: Baggage claim is in the arrivals area of your terminal - Terminal 1 on Level 1, Terminal 3 in its own arrivals area. Check the flight display for your carousel number; it's tied to your specific flight, not your airline. Missing or damaged bags go through your airline's baggage team, not Pearson's Lost and Found. Find your carousel
Your flight number is the key piece of information, not your airline or a carousel you remember from a previous trip. Pearson's arrivals tool lets you search by flight number, city or airline and shows the assigned carousel when it's available.
- Check the display
Find your flight number on the arrivals screen.
- Note the carousel
Carousel assignments are tied to the individual flight, not the airline.
- Follow the signs
Head to that carousel and wait for your bags.
- Check the tag
Confirm the luggage tag matches yours before leaving - similar bags are easy to mix up.
Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 baggage areas
Terminal 1's baggage claim is on Level 1, Arrivals. Terminal 3 has its own dedicated arrivals and baggage area. If the carousel display shows TBD, the belt hasn't been assigned yet - stay in the baggage area and keep checking the screen rather than guessing a carousel.
Oversized and unusual items
Large sports equipment, skis, musical instruments, strollers and mobility aids aren't always handled on the standard carousel. Pearson advises checking with your airline in advance, since size, weight and handling rules are set by the airline rather than the airport.
Missing or damaged luggage
If your bag hasn't appeared after checking the display again, go to your airline's baggage service desk before leaving the airport and file a report - keep your claim tag, boarding information and a description of the bag. The same applies to visible damage: report it to the airline's baggage team on the spot rather than after you've left.
Lost and Found vs a missing checked bag
| Situation | Who to contact |
|---|---|
| Checked bag didn't arrive | Your airline's baggage service |
| Bag arrived damaged | Your airline's baggage service, before leaving |
| Item left somewhere in the terminal or parking | Pearson Lost and Found - Terminal 1, ground level, between Doors R and S |
| Item left on the aircraft | Your airline |
Pearson's Lost and Found handles items left in airport areas; it does not handle checked baggage, which is the airline's responsibility. Check current office hours before visiting, since they can change.
