Licensed taxis use Door D, licensed limos use Door C, and the pre-arranged taxi/limo desk is inside near Door A. Call +1 (905) 872-6411.

Terminal 1 levels at a glance

Terminal 1 is organized vertically, so your first decision is which level you need, not which direction to walk.

LevelMain purpose
GroundGround transportation - taxi, limo, rideshare, transit
Level 1Arrivals and baggage claim
Level 2Departures
Level 3Check-in

Pearson's own site publishes separate maps for each level plus an interactive map covering amenities, retail and security checkpoints.

Check-in starts on Level 3, not Level 1

The detail that catches people out: check-in and departures are not on the same numbered level. If you are dropped off for a flight, Level 3 is your starting point - check-in, then down to Level 2 for the departure area and security.

After security, Terminal 1's gates sit across three piers:

Gate areaGeneral role
Pier DMainly domestic operations
Pier EDomestic and some transborder
Pier FTransborder and international

Treat that as a general pattern, not a substitute for your boarding pass - confirm the actual gate from your airline's current information on travel day.

Arrivals, baggage claim and customs timing

Arrivals and baggage claim sit on Level 1. For international arrivals, do not treat landing time as pickup time - Pearson advises allowing roughly 1 to 3 hours after scheduled landing for customs and baggage, longer when several wide-body flights land together.

Some flights use Pearson's Infield Concourse, reached by a shuttle bus of about 10 minutes rather than a normal gate walk. If your boarding pass shows an Infield gate, build that transfer into your airport time.

Where to meet your ride at Terminal 1

Licensed taxis and limousines do not pick up inside the terminal or in the parking garages - they use designated curbs on the Arrivals Level.

Rideshare pickup moved to the Ground Level in March 2026, with providers assigned to zones near Doors P, Q, R and S:

Lyft / HoppZone 3P and Q
UberZone 4Q and R
UberZone 5R and S

Uber and Lyft check the app for the exact bay. Uber Black and Lyft Lux use Door A instead of the Ground Level zones. The safest meeting instruction for any ride is terminal, level, door or zone, and your flight number - not just "Terminal 1, outside."

Transit and the Terminal Link train

TTC buses depart Terminal 1's Ground Level at Column R4. The UP Express station sits beside the Terminal Link platform, with trains to Toronto Union in about 28 minutes ($12.35, or $9.25 with PRESTO). The free Terminal Link train connects Terminal 1, Terminal 3 and Viscount Station around the clock, with a journey of about 2 to 8 minutes between stations - useful if you land at the wrong terminal and need to get to the other one without a road transfer.
